Notable Achievements
- The American Film Institute (AFI) chose Calpernia's story as told in "Soldier's Girl" as one of it's top 10 films of 2003.
- Calpernia received the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force's Leadership Award in 2004.
- Calpernia received the Service member's Legal Defense Network's Visibility Award in 2004.
- Calpernia worked as a professional fiddle player in Nashville for several years and put out an album with her band.
- During her theatrical career, Calpernia was crowned Miss Tennessee Entertainer of the year, Miss Nashville Entertainer of the Year, Miss Dreamgirl Entertainer of the Year, and Miss Heartbreaker.
- As a US Navy veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, Calpernia was decorated with many medals and awards. She also received notice from Congress for assistance given to a downed Chinese airliner on the remote Aleutian island of Shemya.
- As a showgirl, Calpernia won many pageants, including "Nashville Entertainer of the Year" and "Tennessee Entertainer of the Year".
