Preaching OUTSIDE the Choir
I get TONS of email… Metric tons. Thank God it’s not paper mail, or my correspondents would be responsible for the deforestation of a large chunk of rainforest. Most of it is routine work stuff, but there are lots of young trans and gay people looking for support and advice, and lots of people my…

Baby Loves Banjo Originally uploaded by Kamepyon Sigh… the best times in life are the simplest… My Dad played the banjo (all of our family played music) and the sound of Bluegrass was always at the edges of my childhood. Isn’t this video cute!?!

And I love the Disney soundtrack all the way through in the background!

Hahaha this is so great!! I love seeing these little nuggets on your views of everyday life, and all the dumbasses you encounter.

Let me add that while I wish the dumbasses didn’t give quite so much reason for this type of amusement, I love the spin you put on things.

As funny as you are on the topic there is seldom any humor when those bombs are dropped. Yet for all the rage I can honestly say that I never felt like any of those comments applied to me. I just wanted to say Calpernia is beautiful when angry. ginger2u

Ha ha, I had a lot of fun making this one. I always wish I had done it a little differently once it’s all done, but things seem to come out better if I just improvise like this, so here it is.
I do honestly get bitter about some of these questions, but I hope the humor shows that I’m not totally unsympathetic. =)

This video is GOLD.
All too true, and all too real. We had a blast watching it, and would recommend it to all of our friends.

Thank you, Mila! It was lots of fun to just say exactly what I felt, ha ha. Of course, I know plenty of people come to us with questions out of a genuine desire to know us better, but I just want to maybe inspire them to think twice and ask questions in a way that won’t be disrespectful or hurtful.

It is nice to get to say something back. My personal (un)favorite rude question (which I have been asked at least twice) is “so do you still have your factory equipment?” Which is usually asked immediately after a guy finds out I am trans, and quickly followed by questions about sex that no man would ask a natal-woman they just met.
Funny that earlier in the day before we knew about the video, Jayna and I had been talking about doing the same kind of thing. We talked about it on the car ride home after looking at video cameras. I found you video waiting when we got home
lol.

This video is great! I’d dare say it should be shown in schools with videos about where babies come from and Martin Luther King. While it is specifically about transgender, it’s a lesson in respecting and loving all people. And of course just plain thinking before you speak. And its true, I don’t consider myself a dumbass, just not well versed in the ways of transgender, but putting those seemingly harmless questions in perspective was very helpful.
Thanks for opening my eyes!
