Casting Pearls
“Casting Pearls” is a short comedic film by Deep Stealth Productions which illustrates the difficulties transwomen face in Hollywood. Calpernia Addams stars as The Actress, and we follow her on a hectic series of auditions. Despite all the horrible, funny and cruel things said by various Hollywood industry people, The Actress carries on with plucky determination and professionalism, showing that decades of bias can’t hold back the artistic contributions of transgender people in the media. Directed by Andrea James, this short is being distributed worldwide by Frameline Distribution.
I’m “VERY Charismatic” !!! =)

There’s a very kind review of “Casting Pearls” in Karman Kregloe’s After Ellen blog:
Casting Pearls by Andrea James was about the misadventures of a transsexual actress (played by the very charismatic Calpernia Addams) who can’t get a break.

I just watched an old favorite of mine last night, the Doris Day movie “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies”, which I hadn’t seen since I was a child. I mostly remembered a funny white St. Bernard dog jumping on people, but watching it as an adult, I realized that it’s about a theatre critic and his wife overcoming the friction caused by his ascending career and increasing poison pen. I’m glad I haven’t had to suffer much in the way of criticism so far. I’m sure it will come, as I’m still learning so much as far as film/tv is concerned. As long as it’s tempered by some good, I suppose I’ll deal with it all as it comes!
My First Mean Review! (Sort of)

Today I read a quick review of the OutFest showing of “Casting Pearls” from S’Up Ladies!! blog:
Anyhoo, Calpernia Addams brings every (transsexual or not) actors’ worst casting calls to a brilliant satirical lisp, I mean light, in ‘Casting Pearls’ (dir. Andrea James)
This means I’m really making it as an actrethhh! Maybe when people say I remind them of Drew Barrymore, they mean this one:

I actually do have a little bit of sibilance sometimes when speaking s’s, and the writer liked the film so I consider it a good review. I’d prefer people poke a little good natured fun here and there, it keeps me humble!
