The secret is, all the people dressed in wild finery (including me) were most likely shy, introverted squares who felt like outsiders at some point or other in their lives. They just had a watershed moment somewhere along the way and started experimenting with more self expression. They’re a mix of the quietest, loneliest kids in their high school and the loudest, wildest kids… who’ve all ended up at the same place as friends!
But that’s not to say that you have to dip yourself in silver body paint and wear a green afro wig to fit in at Miss Kitty’s. There are plenty of guys and girls in jeans and a black t-shirt, just dancing and having fun. In any case, it’s not for everyone, but there’s lots of fun to be had there. Gee Calpernia, you have been working at Miss Kitty’s club for a while now… but it seems like sometimes even they spell your name wrong!
I’ve always wanted to go to Miss Kitty’s to see you perform, but I have never gone to the club because I’m too much of a square! I don’t think I’m cool enough to hang out with the weird and wild people that go to that club!
