Ok, I get calls all the time about this or that cool thing that people are interested in talking to me about participating in, and I hardly ever mention them in this diary. But this one was really cool… I got a call the other morning from the casting people for America’s Next Top Model, to ask me to audition!

“HA! Have you seen a picture of me?” I asked the sweet guy on the other end of the line. I was really flattered that they’d ask, but I couldn’t imagine why they’d be interested in me. I’m perfectly fine with the way I look nowadays, for the most part, but I’m definitely not professional model material. You can read my post about ”How do I get into modeling if I’m trans?” if you’re curious about my advice. Basically, though, modeling is a busine$$ whose goal is to sell products by putting them next to beautiful and/or hot people. Just as I would not ask to be on the US Olympic running team, I wouldn’t expect to be added to an agency’s stable of models because I just wouldn’t perform at the level they need. Of course, once an actress reaches a certain level of celebrity, like Sarah Jessica Parker, then you can get modeling gigs no matter what you look like because people think you’re cool.

Anyway, the man from America’s Next Top Model was very nice, but once I made it clear to him that I was significantly outside the age range of contestants, and probably not ideal for modeling for other reasons, he agreed that I shouldn’t go through the audition process. He’s going to keep me in mind for other things, though, and no matter what… color me flattered!
