Capernia at Atlanta Pride - The Video! and “Sordid Lives” the series!
Atlanta Pride was an absolute BLAST, thanks especially to the rain and to ”Sordid Lives” kids - Del Shores, Jason Dottley and Ann Walker.
My dear showgirl mother Chyna has the movie “Sordid Lives” high on her shelf of GLBT-themed movies, and I finally got to watch it with her one year when I came home to visit… I had moved out of her place and on to Los Angeles almost a decade ago, so I hadn’t been able to keep up with her always-excellent movie recommendations like I once did. But when I watched this movie with her and some other local girls, we shrieked with laughter through the whole thing. Still to this day, someone will come out with Leslie Jordan’s side-of-the-mouth, polite-but-lacking-any-conviction “Nyoh-kayyyye” (”O.k.”) when they hear something they don’t believe. It is a pitch-perfect comedic love letter to Southern moires, especially when it comes to the convergence of religion and GLBT issues.
I got to see the first two episodes of the new “Sordid Lives” series, coming out on my beloved Logo network on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 - 10PM. It is a fan’s dream come true… you know how you don’t want a movie to end, or the characters to go away, when you really love it? Well, the series is exactly what you want… MORE and NEW stories of their lives. The TV series is a prequel, so we get to see how it all started. Make sure you watch!
Sordid Lives Series Trailer #2

And a HUGE thanks to you, Calpernia, for being the icing on our Pride cake. From running in the rain through downtown Atlanta, to sharing champagne at the Ritz, it was a fantastic day.
Best,
jason
Nooooo! Don’t give her any booze. You’ll only encourage her.
Also, one must not let the mogwai or Calpernia get wet.
Haha, good clip
Gee Calpernia, I’m sorry that your parade got rained on!
But I think you still looked stunning at that parade, even when you were completely soaked!
