This is just another way to draw attention away from their own shortcomings, something organized religion has done from it’s inception. Simply a way to tell others that “We have something you can’t get. no matter how hard you try., because we are perfect and you are not.” It’s not just the Catholics, either….try Mormons, Pentecostals, Southern Baptists, Evangelicals of every kind. I, a straight person, would be doomed to Hell just for approving of another’s alternative lifestyle. I do believe in God, but He certainly isn’t the same one these folks know…..He is all-loving and all-forgiving and doesn’t hold human grudges and hatred, because He isn’t human. Religion is made of fallible humans, just remember that.
How dare children be aware of their body and genitals!
Of course, sex with children is terrible, but so much of it is enabled by this kind of puritanical obsession with never explaining anything about how “down there” (as they’d call it) works leaving kids open to misinformation and abuse stemming from such.
So to answer the article’s question, no, I don’t see anything wrong with asking kids silly and decidedly non-perverted questions about their body parts, no matter what a person’s gender or orientation is.
The way I look at it is as follows:
The abuse of children is carried out by heterosexual men.
The rape of women is carried out by heterosexual men.
The majority of violent crime is perpetrated by heterosexual men.
Trafficking of women and children is run for and by heterosexual men.
How many gay, lesbian or trans people do these things?
The Catholic Church is heavily invested in the practice of attempting to shift the blame for sexual and violent crime onto the shoulders of everyone but the heteronormative model which it presents as the natural order.
The Catholic Church — now headed by a man who sounds like a B-movie caricature of a German stormtrooper — must have some terribly important reason to want to try and deflect attention from the real threat to women and children.
Ah .. but it’s a worldwide power structure with immense acquired wealth designed for and by heterosexual men.
