LifeWorks and Ellen Pompeo
Tonight my friend Jeffrey (Entertainment editor at US Weekly Magazine!) and I attended a benefit for Lifeworks GLBT Youth Mentoring, a great program that pairs a GLBT mentor doing well in their career with a GLBT young person. It’s a non-crisis focused group, which means that it’s not so much a “get kids off the street” type program as it is a “provide a positive role model and career advice” kinda thing. I even got to take a pic with Spot, the Target dog! Luckily for me, there was plenty of the staple diet of struggling actresses in LA: Free Cosmo martinis and catering trays full of mini-sandwiches and baby hamburgers!
Jeffrey was there to interview Ellen Pompeo, who plays “Grey” on “Grey’s Anatomy”. She was beautiful, friendly and funny. John Amaechi, the first out gay NBA player, was there, too. He and Ellen gave some remarks during a brief presentation, and both were well spoken.
Soon it was time to scoot, so Jeffrey and I jetted away in his sexy car (I don’t know anything about cars, but I think it’s an IROC or something) and had din-din at our favorite little West Hollywood Mexican place. Last time we were there, we sat right across from Pamela Anderson and David LaChapelle, which was cool. This time, I focused on the margaritas and food!
