Transamerican Love Story - Episode 08 Thoughts (Season Finale!) Tuesday, April 22, 2008

From a phone call received while walking in the bright Summer sun of 2007 to the emotional roller coaster of shooting in that Fall, to the fun of airing it on Logo in early 2008, here we are, the season finale of Transamerican Love Story! Click “Read More” below for the full writeup with LOTS of pix, thanks to my iTunes subscription to Transamerican Love Story!
I honestly don’t know what will come of our meeting… people ask all the time. I’m not sure what to say, because I can be a “hard to get to know” person, and the context of a dating show turned out to be far beyond my assumptions of weirdness and difficulty. Whatever happens, I will remember these guys for many, many years to come, and I hope they will remember me with at least some fondness as well. Leave a Comment CommentsI have to say that while I'm sorry to see that you let Jim go, I'm... strangely not sorry you let Jim go, because now he's fair game! I caught a few episodes of the show, but as my television viewing is erratic at best, and I've not yet made the leap to TiVo, I ended up catching some of the same episodes over and over and missing a few completely. I can only imagine that the pants exorcism was quite the frightening ordeal for all involved. I hope nobody was injured! Outdated fashion can be dangerous! Fia on 04/22 at 04:57 AM

I literally did a spit take on the Sleestak. You owe me another keyboard.
Also, for any interested buyers: I have a slightly used keyboard for sale. Some keys stick a little and it has a faint gin and tonic aroma, but it is otherwise good as new. Andrea James on 04/22 at 06:04 AM
Ha ha, it's funny because it's true. Oh, wait... =(

Hey Calpernia,
I frickin love this blog entry. The sleestack reference killed me! I was also bummed that they didn't keep the evolution conversation in the episode (not my doing, for sure!). For the record, I love your soap opera hair. Two thumbs up on your funny-ass blog...toodles! Meesh on 04/22 at 06:00 PM
If anyone has ever seen Andrea's keyboard, you'd know that there's a bit more than ONE episode's worth of spilled Gin on it, along with enough flora and fauna to make up a microbial Noah's Ark, ha ha. calperniaaddams on 04/22 at 11:05 PM

I saw the complete first season of Transamerican Love Story, and I really loved the show. Perhaps, it has something to do with the fact that I am trans too. Anyway, I wish you all the best.

Ah, how nice! Andrea is scratching Calpernia’s back with that knife! Andrea is such thoughtful and helpful friend!

Even though it's hard for some of us to find that Mr. right, I'm still so excited that some of us have such colorful lives that keep us going. I would have loved to have seen your Transamerican Love Story. Unfortunately this country gal can't even get her antenna up high enough to pick up any good reception! Hope to see you sometime soon in Chicago "movie star"!

Ha! Best recap ever. You even tossed in some photos, which is awesome since I don't get Logo and therefore missed the entire show. I found the first episode on their website... is the entire series there as well?
Re: the Hammer pants exorcism - What do you think you could do about getting rid of mullets once and for all? on 04/24 at 01:19 AM
Hos before bros!!! This is the first I've seen of your blog but you're quite and entertaining writer as well as being gorgeous and charismatic. I followed the show through Shawn's blog and was so thrilled that he won and I got to interview him afterwards! You and Andrea are truly pioneers in increasing Trans awareness in the media and I have so much respect for you for being brave enough to do the show!

I love it! You are SOOO funny. I got a good laugh out of your comments about Mike's make-over and scared my cat silly with laughter over the whole sleestack thing. Thanks for cheering up my day. I can't wait until your next project.
BTW... the UPS man brought me a copy of your book yesterday. I can't wait to start reading it. Take care. I hope you are doing well. Your friend Nate in Cincinnati. PS. You are very beautiful and not at all sleestack-y. It was all the sunglasses fault. on 04/24 at 03:17 PM
sounds to me it's not going to work out with sean. Does this mean a second season is in the works?

Hi Calpernia,
I loved the show. All the best to you and Shawn. How about having Jim as the star for next season? "Beautiful Daughters" is terrific. Keep up the excellent work. Regards, Mark on 04/28 at 01:14 PM
Calpernia, you are my new heroine. I can't wait to see anything with you in it. Your wonderful sense of humor is only matched by your beauty.

Lol! I love the Andrea frame. What you miss in a blink . It was a terrific show and tense to watch but right at the end after I got them on iTunes we go LOGO ! Congrads on just a wonderful beginning.
Oh, and in case no one has said it , it wasn't TV that made you look so good, it was your beautiful soul. Hugs Darlie on 05/14 at 06:34 AM
Who knew there were such nice guys out there for us girls? This show was the only thing on television I have ever seen that I have related to so deeply. I always thought of myself as just another girl but this show really made me feel it. Is this what most people feel like when they watch relationship drama? Most powerful indeed.
I hope they will bring you back for a follow up show "Shawn-pernia"? ... ok maybe not. I do hope they continue the idea like "The Bachelorette" (ahem). You were always yourself and that showed how important it is not to have a fake persona. Well done all around. You get an "A". on 06/01 at 05:11 AM
Dear Calpernia Addams
I just want to reach out and say hello. I have been watching you on Logo and I am a big big fan. Loved you in that short film as well. Just wanted to say 'Thank you.' Just by being you and carrying on the way you do you have brightened my life and more important given me the opportunity to more deeply appreciate the transgender community. By the way, thank you for not choosing Jim. Now I can still keep my fantasy about Jim and I being together..even though I don't believe a nice Jewish guy is what he is looking for. Calpernia I wish you all the best. Stay fabulous. All good wishes, Richard on 06/03 at 09:11 AM
