Knife Life 02
* Well, only a few hours until I go under the knife. I hesitate to say I’m “scared”, but I’m definitely charged up about it… lots of adrenaline flowing here. I hate the recovery process, but I can’t wait to have the results.
* Acting class is going GREAT! I love it so much and am really getting a lot from it. I have class on Friday, so everyone send a little prayer that I can discard my vanity enough to sit through four hours of class with a swollen, bruised, bandaged face among all the beautiful people. I am so thrilled and excited with class that I wouldn’t miss it for the world anyway, and goodness knows I’ve had experience going out in public under the weight of peoples judgement. Suck it up and drive on, as they say.
* Whenever I have surgery (I’ve had 2 major surgeries in my life) I like to leave a few words out there just in case I never have an opportunity to say more. Not that I have even the most remote expectation of anything bad happening, but for the record, should anything occur like an earthquake or brain clot or whatever, I consider this a life well lived and have no regrets. I am happy with my choices and outcomes. I feel supremely lucky, one of the luckiest people ever to live in many ways, and I am thankful for the experiences I have had in this journey.

i’ve never commented before, but i’ll take this as good a time as any to start. Calpernia i love you and i’m sending a heaping helping of good thoughts your way during surgery. And don’t worry about being swollen and bandaged during acting class… even wrapped up like a mummy you’ll be the prettiest girl in the room.
.much love and respect.

Callie,
best wishes for you! I know you’ll just do great in recovering from this ‘adjustment’. Please -do- have Andrea post something about how you did as soon as she can (assuming you’re not up to it).
We all worry when our friends go under the knife. I’ve only been under a few times in my life, and every one was important, but I know letting the loved ones and concerned parties know how things went was very important to me.

It’s now 7:20AM, PST so you’re probably under the effects of the anesthetic already. 100, 99, 98, zonk……… However, I do wish you the best recovery possible. You do everything else well so I’m sure you’ll get better soon than most, dear heart.
BTW, when you go to acting class on Friday, just pretend that you’re in a play and the bandages are simply part of your character. I’m sure most all the other girls in Hollywood have been through something similar so just laugh it off for a while until you look good enough to greet the world with your lovely smile.
Love and hugs,
Lexi
ps. I have my second day off this week – more snow – they called from work and told me not to come in – too dangerous to drive on the roads. Oh well, what’s another 8″ or so on top of the 38″ inches we got on Sunday? LOL You should see the over 5 feet tall snow drifts and 10+ feet high snow in the mall and supermarket parking lots. LOL

Andrea says you are home now and everything went well. Don’t try and do too much for a while because we know you are a workaholic girl. Everything else is just stuff and your recovery is everything. To say you are loved is an understatement , it’s more like adored. You deserved all the good fortune that life can give because you give so much of yourself. I am so happy for you Calpernia. A woman not only by sheer force of will but by the power of her soul. Now a new beginning.

Good to hear that everything went well. I hope you have a swift, uncomplicated recovery. Surround yourself with soothing things, chocolate, down pillows, good music. Take this time to reflect on your blessings and don’t rush to get back to work!

Calpernia,
I haven’t posted in a while but I wanted to say that I’m glad you made it through without incident and I’m sure you’ll have a swift recovery — I’m sure we all can’t wait to see the results. I pray that it’s everything that you hoped it would be. I’m actually going in this week to have some very minor work done, as well. Hopefully we’ll both get through the stares and funny looks from people wondering if we just got beat-up or something. HEHE Take good care.
