* Wow, Andrea and I went to the Time/Warner launch party for MTV’s LOGO network tonight, and it was a blast! In case you didn’t know, LOGO is a GLBT-focused network that was in limited distribution up until recently, when cable TV giant Time/Warner acquired it and added it to their basic cable package. This means that now millions of households will receive it. LOGO is currently playing “Beautiful Daughters”, the documentary about the all-trans cast Vagina Monologues that Andrea produced, I directed and we both performed in, under the wings of Eve Ensler and Jane Fonda.
* The party was held on Sunset Blvd in the former Hollywood Athletic Club, and there were tons of stars there. My friend Jeffrey, formerly of OUT Magazine and now at US Magazine, said this in his blog entry:
Leave it to the gays to throw a party to announce a cable line-up change. But finally, gay TV for Hollywood! Out’s Jeffrey Epstein reports back:
It was like a queer who’s who in the entertainment industry as Logo celebrated its launch on Time/Warner Cable in Los Angeles Thursday night with a bash at the slick new nightclub Boulevard3. Out 100 honoree Wilson Cruz tried to quiet down the crowd to talk about MTV’s gay channel (and introduce its president, Brian Graden), but it was a difficult task in a venue where everyone was in full schmooze mode. Peter Paige and Robert Gant enjoyed a mini Queer As Folk reunion. We caught up with actress Calpernia Addams, who was showing off her freshly cropped red locks, while looking stunning in a form-fitting dress. “Oh, this old thing?” she cooed with a smile. Addams was talking with Jane Lynch, and we couldn’t help but butt in to hear about the new comedy pilot Lynch is taping for NBC called Area 52 in which “Pee Wee” Paul Reubens plays an alien. And Lynch? “I play a major,” she told us. “A major in the Air Force. Not a labia major.” Thanks for the clarification!
Ugly Betty’s adorable creator, Silvio Horta, featured in the April issue of Out as well as right here on Out.com told us that the upcoming episode where conniving assistant Marc (Michael Urie) comes out to his mother is one of his favorites of the season. Erasure and Dangerous Muse took turns spinning music for the crowd which also included Real World-er Tyler Duckworth, Joan Jett, MC Lyte, Jai Rodriguez, Amanda Bearse, Bruce Vilanch, Alexis Arquette, Maeve Quinlan, and recently out Survivor (and now Janice Dickenson model) JP Calderon.
We also chatted up Lance Bass, whose upcoming biography, Out of Sync was just announced for release this fall. “It’s all done,” revealed Bass, who was looking trim and sporting a sexy five o’clock shadow. “I finished it six months ago. So at this point, it’s all boring to me because it’s just my life. But if it helps a kid out there, then that’s great.”
