* Well, after several delays over the weekend, I finally got my bike today! The man I got it from brought it by, and because I’m still learning and not ready to ride alone, I hopped on the back and we sped off for a nice sunset ride through Griffith Park. It was great… the air in the park was deliciously full of the fresh smell of vegetation, and the scenery was very nice zipping along the two lane road with trees on either side. At one point we were riding along the side of a high embankment and a large swath of LA could be seen lighting up below us in preparation for the night.

* He used to manage old B-movie stars and one of the first things we talked about (other than the bike) was Mamie Van Doren, classic Hollywood bombshell. Her film career began around 1949, taking off with such titles as “Forbidden”. She looks a-maz-ing for her age now, still kicking around Hollywood (you’ve gotta click the link and see her pix!). He knew her peripherally and promised an autographed photo of her to go along with the bike, just because we both liked her.
