God, I loved this particular cartoon as a kid. At that time, it was hilarious to me how they “got” this trembling little bundle of nerves over and over again, but during this last year of writers’ strikes and financial downturns I’ve found myself feeling more like the little guy, ha ha. Thank goodness my move is over! Now I can relax a little.
There’s another one somewhere, where Porky Pig or somebody has to get some “peace and quiet” or else he’s just going to lose his mind, and he and Sylvester go to some rickety old hotel where Sylvester has to fall all overhimself keeping things quiet so that Porky doesn’t lose it… If I can find that one, and my current Holy Grail of old cartoons, I’ll be complete as a human being. For a minute or two.
What’s my holy grail of cartoons, you ask? There’s an episode of Woody Woodpecker where his opponent in the cartoon gets the rare “upper hand”, and at the end Woody does a “sad laugh” rather than his usual “triumphantly mocking laugh”. Huh huh huh h:(h h:(h, kinda. I NEED that cartoon, but I can’t find it anywhere! Sigh.
