Credits

Director: Frank Pierson Soldier's Girl was directed by the legendary Frank Pierson. His credits are so impressive that I couldn't list them all, so I'll just let you look for yourself. He was completely in control on the set, but very kind and gentle with me.

Writer: Ron Nyswaner The movie was written by Ron Nyswaner, who also wrote the incredible film "Philadelphia". I had dinner with him in New York before everything really got underway, and he is a sensitive, insightful man. He got so many things right in his script... I guess that's just the writer's gift that separates the good from the best.

Producers: Doro Bachrach & Linda Gottlieb These women are absolute powerhouses of determination and insight. Previous credits include "Dirty Dancing", and Linda ran "One Life to Live" for many years. I was constantly in awe of how they made things happen and hope to take a page from their book in my own career as a businesswoman.

"Barry": Troy Garity I first saw Troy as the stuntman character in "Bandits", although at that time I never imagined our lives would intersect in any way. Since then he's been seen in "Barbershop", which has done very well. It was great to watch him bring humanity to Barry's portrayal, and to get to know him a little bit personally.

"Calpernia": Lee Pace I was also terribly nervous about meeting Lee. What would he be like? Was it going to work, having a male play me? The moment I met Lee my fears were put to rest and I fell in love with his gentle spirit and fearlessness. I didn't see him out of makeup until well into the shoot, so it was hard to think of Lee as anything but a sister.

Shawn Hatosy Shawn played the person who murdered Barry. It was difficult to think about a lot of the things involved in telling this story, and I could not allow myself to think of Shawn as that person even a little bit. I'm sure he felt awkward about meeting me as well, so we didn't really speak until a ways into the filming. Once I met him, he was a sweet, passionate person. I'm glad he brought his talent to the role.
