* OMG so Andrea and I have been watching some amazing underground movies recently… We especially loved “The Impossible Kid” starring Weng Weng, as I’ve mentioned before. Tonight we watched “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story” (click for Wikipedia article). It’s a 1987 film by Todd Haynes about the life and death of pop singer Karen Carpenter, with almost all parts played by modified Barbie dolls. Made without clearance for the music, and portraying everyone in Karen’s life as cruel and selfish, it was withdrawn and all copies ordered to be destroyed as a result of a legal judgment in Richard Carpenter’s favor.

* You know I have to see any movie that was withdrawn and ordered to be destroyed! And now you can see it too, via Google Video.
