The Point Foundation Gala
9* Andrea and I attended the Point Foundation Gala, a fundraiser for the GLBT scholarship that gave over $1 Million in assistance last year to students who lost support due to their sexuality or gender identity expression. It was hosted by k.d. lang (who I thanked for the music in Soldier’s Girl) at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood. In addition to meeting the inspiring young scholars I got to spend time with some wonderful women from the community, such as the amazing Joanna and VDay’s Donna Rose and Vicky Ortega. * For entertainment, there was a condensed reading of the upcoming independant film Save Me with cuties Chad Allen and Robert Gant. It’s about drama at an “ex-gay ministries” house. During the after-party in the lobby aaea, I scavenged for hors d’ouvres and got to chat with Christopher Rice, who is so tall and charming! There were many cool people I already knew and I took that last opportunity to show off my cape ensemble before snatching up a gift bag and zipping away home. Yay!
Monster In Law – The final experience
4* Well tonight Andrea and I went to the cast and crew screening of Monster In Law at the Directors Guild in Hollywood. It was the same place they did the Hollywood premiere of Soldier’s Girl. * I remembered Jane being funny on the set, and she didn’t disappoint in the film. She was hilarious! She was over-the-top mean to Jennifer’s character, yet vulnerable, human and maternal. I honestly laughed all the way through it. * They cut out a lot of little pieces, as they always must to streamline the movie, so I am only seen in glimpses at the engagement party, in my red dress. But I had a terrific time nonetheless. * It comes out in theaters tomorrow, I think, so everyone go see it and support Jane!
