The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D
* My friend Faith is very well connected, and she scored four tickets to a special screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D at Graumann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood (the one with Marilyn Monroe’s footprints outside!). So four of us girls got together, picked up some snacks and put on our 3D glasses. It actually worked pretty well, but since the movie hadn’t been made to take advantage of 3D, there weren’t many places where it popped out or anything. It was loads of fun, and we all went to lunch afterward in Hollywood. Yay!

Unironically! OMG with sincerity! Ha ha, although I never publicized it, I used to volunteer for a group that read to children every Saturday, and I very much enjoyed it. Recently, a new little boy has come into my life and I’ve enjoyed reading to him before he goes to sleep when I visit. This…

Rosemary & Newell Alexander to Produce Live Christmas Show
Cal-pal Rosemary Alexander (“Dr. Eve” in/on Sordid Lives) is producing a fun live Christmas show with her husband Newell Alexander (“Wardell”). It sounds GREAT, and who doesn’t love a homey old-fashioned Christmas show? I’m producing 2 performances of an old-fashioned radio drama that Newell and I wrote which will benefit Aids Project Los Angeles. “Christmas…

Preaching OUTSIDE the Choir
I get TONS of email… Metric tons. Thank God it’s not paper mail, or my correspondents would be responsible for the deforestation of a large chunk of rainforest. Most of it is routine work stuff, but there are lots of young trans and gay people looking for support and advice, and lots of people my…

Baby Loves Banjo Originally uploaded by Kamepyon Sigh… the best times in life are the simplest… My Dad played the banjo (all of our family played music) and the sound of Bluegrass was always at the edges of my childhood. Isn’t this video cute!?!

Saw the 3D version this weekend, and while it was great to see Nightmare on the big screen again, I was a little disappointed with the 3D effects. Yes, the characters did show depth, but nothing really popped out of the screen. I suppose there’s only so much you can do with a pre-existing film.

Cool ! I love that normal version of movie. I actually got meet the director Henry Sellick at a Christmas party last Christmas. He is good freind with some freinds of mine
They are in up in Portland working at what was the Will Vinton studios. I have a ton-o freinds up there. I don’t know if it was originally planned for 3D ( its all puppet replacement parts) . Corpse Bride is in the same vein but now it is so much easier to do puppetry . They can rig openly to secure the puppets and then just digitally wipe out the rigs. Ahhh the computer age.
