VDay LA Organizers’ Meetings of the Minds
* We had a great VDay LA 2004 volunteer meeting at the Deep Stealth corporate offices in Santa Monica last night, right next to an Oscar screening of “Cold Mountain” (Nicole didn’t show, darn it!)
* About twelve core volunteers showed up and we brainstormed on PR, selling more tickets and organization over a warm box of Krispy Kremes. OMG, there’s just something about them… The lovely Susan K. was our hostess, with her daughter Rainbow, and a good time was had by all.
* We came up with some really good ideas, and got all fired up even more than before about this event. For anyone who hasn’t read about it, details are here.
* I talked to April Ashley recently… if anyone isn’t aware of her amazing story, click her name for the website. She is a real legend in the community and has several cool projects in the works.
* Well, I am off later tonight to visit home for the first time in a few years. I’m very much looking forward to seeing my friends and family, and getting reenergized by some time on the old home soil of my native Tennessee. I plan to gorge on fried pies, Bar-B-Cutie sandwiches and Dr. Pepper. I can’t wait!!

LOL, Staci! When I was in the hospital having my daughter, I asked for a Dr. Pepper IV (along with the epidural, of course!) but they wouldn't give it to me. Considering I couldn't eat or drink anything for 11 hours, you'd think they'd be nice to me! Damn nurses!

What exactly are the Bar-B-Cutie sandwiches? Now, Dr Pepper I know, because I think I replaced my blood supply with it.

BarBCutie sandwiches are pork BBQ on a bun……….fried pies kinda like turnovers that have been deep fried…there’s all different flavors..chocolate of course, cherry, apple.etc….Hey Cal, looked for you at the Chute Saturday nite…thought you might go see Chyna.

Well that sounds delicious, Janice, thanks! I think my artieries clogged just by reading the description! I live in the south and I’ve never heard BBQ described that way. And I know what turnovers are but I don’t think anyone out here makes them! Geez, I want to move to Tennessee!

Hey! I was on google..and was looking for that k.d. lang song that was on “Soldier’s Girl” and the most wonderful thing happened, I found your website! I just stopped by to say hello, and you probably hear this thousands of times a day…but you really are an inspiration, such a strong woman, we need more women who can be an example to others! You are so beautiful! I was glad to hear about “Soldier’s Girl” being so well received…it was so different from anything I have ever seen in my life, my whole family was touched by it. Take care.
